Sleepy Sloth

Sloth

Salutations, Firefly Art fans! This week, our artists traveled to the jungles of South America to make the acquaintance of this sleepy sloth!

This week's drawing allowed our Firefly Artists a valuable chance to learn about the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds is a compositional rule of thumb in visual arts: the rule states that an image can be divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines. Note how when our sleepy sloth friend is divided into these segments, the picture's elements fit together and seem to snap into place.

We hope your Firefly Artist enjoyed befriending this remarkable jungle creature, and learning about this valuable principle of artistic composition: join us again next week, where we'll take our creativity in a whole new direction!
